Our Promise

Ashley Collie, LM CPM

Founder of Haven Birth & Wellness

Licensed midwife and mother of three, Ashley founded Haven Birth & Wellness in 2020 under the name Hill Country Birth & Wellness. Her journey to birthwork came about from her own childbirth experiences; they were not traumatic but they were not what she wanted. Ashley started as a doula supporting childbearing families in the Richmond, VA area. Shortly after becoming a doula, Ashley accepted an apprenticeship with a local homebirth midwife. Over the next 8 years, her training took many twists and turns, ultimately landing Ashley in Burnet, Texas after becoming a Texas licensed midwife in 2018.

Briana Stelzel, LM CPM

Clinical Director, Team Midwife

Briana Stelzel became a licensed midwife in 2017 after attending The Association of Texas Midwives. Her interest in working in the birthing community started in the beginning of 2009 when she attended the birth of a good friend of hers. She became a certified doula at the end of 2009 with DONA. For the next two and a half years she would attend births for families delivering in the hospital, birth centers, and at their homes. In 2012 she applied to attend The Association of Texas Midwives, was accepted, and started classes in December 2012. During the end of her training, she had her first homebirth in 2015 and attended her last birth as a student within a week of giving birth to her son. In 2017, right before sitting for her board exam she had a second home birth and gave birth to her only daughter with a surprise gender reveal.  Both of these births were preceded by her first birth which was in a hospital in 2005.

The thing Briana admires the most about midwifery care and the differences in her care and her observations over the last decade and a half is the foundation of informed consent. When the birthing person and their family are given their options and the support to do what is best for them and their baby without judgement or fear centered choices. The experience and decisions necessary during pregnancy, is foundational to how the parents will raise each child they are given in a fluid way to meet the unique needs of each child.

BettyGrace Wharton, LM CPM

Team Midwife, Burnet and Georgetown

After moving from Washington to be with my partner, I found my new professional home at Haven Birth & Wellness. I completed my midwifery training through Mercy In Action, graduating in 2018. Being a midwife is not just a profession for me; it’s a calling. Witnessing the transformation in individuals as they come to understand their autonomy over their bodies is profoundly rewarding. This empowerment is what keeps me energized, even during those long, sleepless nights. I am also a strong advocate for mental health, believing that holistic care must include the mind and spirit, as well as the body. Outside of work, I’m slightly obsessed with my dog Finley. I have a love for puns—I’ve yet to hear one I didn’t enjoy. You will almost always catch me reading a book in my free time. Im a real sucker for historical fiction and fantasy romance novels! A mix of humor and compassion is, in my view, essential to navigating life’s journey.

Dr. Summer Silva

Chiropractor

I am married to my best friend and college sweetheart, Brenton. We welcomed our first baby with a home birth in May of 2019. I am a holistic chiropractor with a special focus in serving pregnant women and children. I grew up in Colorado and moved to the panhandle of Texas in high school. I'm also the third of seven kids! Growing up on a farm, I was raised that everything, from the land to all our farm animals, has the ability to heal and self-regulate.

I attended Sul Ross State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  I attended chiropractic school at Parker University in Dallas and became passionate about serving families after a mission trip to Haiti.

I specialize in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic (Webster Certified) with additional training and certifications from the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association), but serve people of all ages from all walks of life.

I had wanted to be a chiropractor since I was in high school after seeing how much it improved the lives of several loved ones. It wasn’t until after I was already in school and attending the birth of my nephew when I realized how much I loved women’s care from preconception through post menopause.

In addition, being blessed in experiencing the beauty and challenges that come with pregnancy and birth, I realized how important chiropractic care was during this special time for not only myself, but my son as well! I am in absolute awe seeing how amazing our bodies are designed and how they perform as an entire whole; being a part of something that unleashes the ability for us to be our best has been one of the most amazing and un-regrettable paths I’ve been guided to.  My mission is to build an empower a healthy community  and break this focus of an outside in approach to health. I am honored to be an element in serving those who seek a health-FULL lifestyle and well-being.
